FEPORTS is a general interest, non-profit making organisation formed jointly by the Valencia Regional Government (Generalitat Valenciana) and the Port Authorities of Alicante, Castellσn and Valencia. It was founded in 1998 and is open to the participation of other interested parties and individuals.
The aims of FEPORTS are in science, research, education, and in cultural and co-operative activities in the port sector.
FEPORTS has the following basic aims:
- To contribute to the ongoing training of professionals who operate in the port environment encouraging communication, innovation and change, paving the way towards the progressive internationalisation of the economy.
- To contribute to the ongoing development of studies and research in order to promote technological development and innovation in the maritime-port sector.
- To encourage an improvement in foreign trade management by creating awareness in the business sector of the economic importance of the transport of goods by sea and distribution logistics as key elements in regional and economic competition.
- To help promote commercial and industrial activities related with maritime-port traffic thereby drawing the port community closer to its national and international markets.
- To help spread information, and to promote cultural and other activities that might favour the integration of the Port Community in general, and the Port Administration in particular, into their regional and social environment.
- All in all, the aims of FEPORTS are to promote innovation in ports and boost the economic and social scope of the port, its operators and users in the Valencian Community. Additionally, it benefits from its many joint collaborations with other national and international organisations.
