Short description
The AEM MED project partnership's general objectives are to identify the scope of the MEMH system in the MEDOCC area,
to plan and implement a pilot action in order to assess the technical, financial, economic, social, institutional,
political and legal aspects of the identified actions.
The project Action Plan identifies specific activities such as the assessment of the integration of marine environmental
systems with precision navigation, and development of a managing tool to operate, manage and administer the MEMH system.
Furthermore, the Action Plan will be the basis for the formulation of project proposals, not only for the pilot action
but also for the potential development stage after the end of the project on an extended basis for other areas of the Mediterranean.
It is expected that the outputs of the AEM MED project will be used to refine the activities aimed at developing an
extended scale MEMH system together with the necessary mechanisms to operate, manage and administer the system on a
sustainable basis. The partnership is expected to continue the implementation of potential transitional activities
after the end of the project in order to further develop the MEMH system. The partners have indicated their willingness
to further continue the establishment of the MEMH system to other areas of the Mediterranean on an expanded basis.
The ultimate goal of the AEM MED Project is the use of innovative maritime and environment management technological
tools to create, network and maintain a marine information infrastructure for enhanced maritime services, higher
navigational safety standards, integrated marine environment protection and sustainable development of coastal and marine resources.
